Amoosi

Amoosi's founders Nina Flowers and Jessica Sherlock

Jessica Sherlock and Nina Flowers are the brains behind Amoosi, a clothing and accessories label which is ethically-driven but totally on-trend. Neither are trained designers, instead their expertise lies in marketing and business development and they work with a team of designers to create collections using fabrics hand-picked from Oxfam's Wastesaver facility.
The pair came together in 2006 when they entered a Guardian competition and received funding to help set up their business. Both nurtured a long-term love of vintage clothing and wanted to establish a label that provides chic pieces style-conscious women with a totally sustainable basis. There are three elements to Amoosi collections. Couture offers one-off pieces individually designed and never to be repeated. Classics includes elegant blouses and tops (order online and you get to choose the fabrics) and tailored jackets and a huge hit this year has been a range of men's suits reworked into jackets that will continue over into next season.
Then there are accessories, and here Amoosi really does stand out. Taking old leather jackets and vintage leather they have created an incredible range which includes oversized clutches and gorgeous supersize hold alls. Amoosi's bags are now stocked by Terra Plana in Covent Garden. Currently, Jessica and Nina are working with desigers Liz Hamlyn, Lena Santana, Briany Sheriden, Stephanie Kate, Louise McElroy and Yildiz Incedal. Building up a pool of designers and a core range, the brand is developing at a steady pace - as howie's say, grow slow, grow strong.
Prices start at £55.
