I've signed up to Tesco's Greener Living website
According to the fashion cul de sac WGSN, Tesco's new Greener Living website is supposed to go live today, so I went for a nose but was told that it's going to launch in a few weeks and have submitted my email so they can let me know when it's live.
I am feeling a small mountain's worth of scepticism at this one, part of me is probably indoctrinated by the adverts into believing that 'every little helps' so something green from the mammoth might of supermarket power that is Tesco should be welcomed. But can't imagine this will be much more than a positive PR exercise. Will Tesco stop importing and transporting food from half way round the world instead of sourcing it locally? Doubt it. Will the stop covering everything in unnecessary and environmentally-damaging packaging? Can't see it. Will they, God forbid, actually start paying fair prices to farmers instead of constantly screwing them over and demanding online bidding wars from suppliers? I could go on and on.
