Laura Lees has hit upon a winning formula with the cheeky ‘guerilla’ embroidery we’ve all come to know and love. This season it was neon, sheer body stockings with Eve (of Adam and Eve) style leaves saving blushes and sheer vests with heart shaped nipple coverings keeping things (relatively) decent.

With a bit of an architectural influence (the Gherkin masterfully embroidered onto a cream dress) it was also a case of the ‘beautiful and the damned’ with embellished bows and birds facing off against skulls and razor blades.

Alongside the more showgirl-punk pieces such as a black dress emblazoned with embroidery there were some more slinky pieces such as a trench coat (inspired by Nudie suits) and biker jacket in champagne silk and a popping pink tunic dress with a ‘blink and you miss it’ skull detail in the same shade.

It’s about time someone brought the bum-bag back - they’re more practical than the clutch yet savvier than the rucksack. Laura’s versions, sprawling with her signature appliqué, looked great slung on a burnt orange structured dress and Fred Perry-style shirtdress.

Laura seems to design for the girl who wants a different sort of pretty – girls who want a bit of an edge. And this collection was just that – edgy, pretty designs with unique details.
