Fri, 19/09/2008 - 11:15am Vauxhall Fashion Scout Scott is a Glasgow-born Central Saint Martin's graduate (MA 2007) whose embroidery skills were harnessed last season by Biba. Having shown as part of the Super Super collective last season, Scott made his individual off-schedule debut with a series of outfits inspired by Alice In Wonderland's Queen of Hearts and the iconic Grace Jones.
Tabards are the key shape here, he uses them as canvases for his embroidery and hand stitching. This results in tabard dresses adorned with metallic tassels which add movement and contrast with the square shape. Tabard dresses have winged side panels and oversized pockets. Alongside the military feel of tabards adorned with golden rope, there are playful jumpsuits worn with to-the-thigh tights. The stand-out outfit is a beautifully-cut black jacket with oversized pockets worn with matching black shorts. Fabrics include cotton pique and cotton drill.
While this is not a collection we're likely to see trickle down to influence the high street, Scott Ramsey Kyle has a talent for creative embellishment and you can see that he's had a great time making these creations in his Hackney studio.
