Celebrate 30 years of The Contemporary Wardrobe Collection
For the last 30 years Roger K. Burton has been archiving street fashions at the Horse Hospital in central London and May 22 sees a full-on free celebration of the Contemporary Wardrobe Collection, including a discussion, an exhibition featuring Zoot suits, Teddy girls, hippies, rockers, beats and punks as well as a fashion show of key rebel looks through the ages.
The event is taking place in association with www.rockpopfashion.com, the online home of Paul Gorman's The Look which incorporates his celebrated book 'The Look: Adventures in Rock and Pop Fashion', a blog and 'The Look presents 'clothing range. Roger and Paul will be sharing their vast knowledge of 60 years of fashion and showing key images from the collection's archive. The 30th anniversary also features Fashion in Film Festival screenings including Zoot Suit Riots (May 26), Blood and Black Lace (29 May), an So what! Two tales of Juvenile Delinquency (The Boys, The Violent Years) curated by Roger K. Burton himself. Screenings cost £7 (£5 members and concessions) and while the discussion and while the May 22 discussion is free, booking via popculture@thehorsehospital.com is essential.
