got a random day off and actually have nothing to do so decided that id learn how to make mojito's.
looked up all the stuff you need and got it all in and realised that i have inch sq ice cubes that ruin the whole feel of it, so am after some sort of ice crushing device...
anyone of you crush ice for this type of thing?
what do i need, could i get away with one of these?

or would i need to go for one of these...

cheers in advance...

You need the ice crusher or a very good food processor as the blades will break loads on cheap ones. These are also very useful for the limes.

I was making them on holiday. luckily we had a yank style fridge that just spat out crushed ice. Took me 3 goes to get them perfected but now my strawberry mojitos are the biz!

When me and Cat Weasil made them we used a brick to crush the ice, they were fucking horrible though, we ended up mashing the mint into a paste and just dumping loads of rum and sugar in Sad couldn't get it to look anything like they do in bars

We spent a long time trying to perfect mojitos, and found it nearly impossible to get it as good as (good) bar-made mojitos. But we did find this:

Less is more with the rum - too much rum in it and it overpowers all the other flavours

Soda water works best as the mixer

Fresh mint is a must

About a quarter of a lime's juice per glass

Well when I was making them in a 3/4 pint size glass I used 6/8's of a lime juiced into the glass with 6 decent sized mint leaves that I quickly chopped only a couple of times and about a table spoon of brown sugar. Used the end of a rolling pin and crushed that up into a bit of a pulp. chuck in the juiced 8ths of the lime, spirit you're using, ice in then mixer.

Probably the wrong way but worked pretty well for me.

squeeze half a lime in each glass, cut the lime up a bit and bung it in, add in mint leaves and mash up, add ice, add sailor jerry, add waitrose cloudy lemonade. get wasted. tis easy.

whats the best way to make nice thick milkshakes (the easy way). tried milk, crusha Laughing out loud and ice cream but blending it just makes it go too runny. cant get a decent consistancy.

Just milk, ice cream and whatever flavour you want. Like a few bannana's or something. Or some chocolate. Use more icecream than you'd expect though.

That's how they do it in 'Milky Moo's, a milkshake place by mine.

It's a leccy one. Work fantastic. Had one in the apartment i stayed in in valencia.

Personally i like,

Loads of fresh mint (8-10 leaves)
Teaspoon of sugar
Juice of whole lime from press
Muddle
Add 50-75 ml of rum
Fill Glass with Ice
Stir
Top Up with soda.
Stir and Garnish

This was with spanish rum prices i.e 6 euro a bottle of Negrita rum (nice stuff) so i was probably a bit more generous with it than i'd usually be.

Milky Moo's has just been outrumped by a new place- Shake it or something similar. One of the milkshakes involves putting a whole jam doughnut in the processor.
