Had a folder of approx 55GB. Moved into an external HD, days later I move it into another folder (still on the external), then immediately try to put it into a sub folder and get 'Access denied blah blah blah'

Have I lost that 50GB?

Presumably you've checked the sizes of all the folders involved?

Have the permissions changed on the folder?

See if you can change it to Read & Write / 777 and look inside - can you look inside it at the moment or is it just saying Access denied?

Yeah they are showing as 0kb.
I can't open or explore the folder.
I will check the other stuff when I get home cheers.

The folder in question 'New Folder' is showing as 0kb, however when I check the usage of the external HD it shows used 215GB, but when I open and check each folder it only adds up to approx 160GB. That leaves 55GB and that's how much i tried to move.

The folder is still access denied, Changing it to read only has made no difference. Want to salvage these files Cry

Have you checked in the Trash in case it's somehow ended up in there but the size is still showing up on the HD?
