Best small plates restaurant in central London or easily accessible from Woolwich, with a great wine list? No specific region/style in mind
And then recommendations for pre-dinner drinks too!
For a special occasion as well, so happy to spend
thank you!!

Went to Manteca on Wednesday, very good Iyalian small plates. Lots of hype, but also has a small bar for walkins. Small walk from Liverpool st. Pig skin tagu, Hare paste recommended ordering.

You can't really walk 5 yards for good 'sharing plates' places with nice wine now, and there are a lot of the same crew moving out of bigger restaurants like the St. John and moving into smaller venues or doing residencies. But since our man was specific about the wine list, you can't beat Brawn. Maybe the laughing heart came close, Sager & Wilde has some deep cuts too. But Brawn will always and forever be my number 1 and Ed Wilson doesn't really put a foot wrong for me.

Planque is possibly the best small, sharing plates restaurant in London at the moment in my opinion, especially if you are happy to spend. 40 maltby is the most consistently excellent restaurant that I go to, but you cant book and maybe isnt right for a special occasion. Theres also a new spot call Dorians opening up in Notting hill that is supposed to be excellent, they arent open just yet but i have heard a lot of people praising it from friends and family soft launch

I wonder if anyone could recommend somewhere East London for steak. Stag doo if that makes any difference. Nothing mega pricey.

Is Spittlfields East London? If so Hawksmoor is mint. Its pricy but not that bad for London.
It looks like there is a flat iron in Spittlfields too now which is cheap and decent, better for lunch than dinner imo

You can't go anywhere except for Hawksmoor for a stag do. Sorry. How many times will you hear it be brought up that it is in an old strip bar? Can't say for certain but it will be more than once.
