Dear fukers,

I'm the new guy who just took over the reigns of Fuk from Brad. I wanted to introduce myself properly, so here goes. I'm Ed, I'm English and I've been messing about with websites and forums for the last 13 years. I've built a couple from scratch, worked on a couple of others and just bought one: Fuk.

It's exciting and daunting to take over a site someone has been running for 24 years. I've been visiting here since 2014, not posting much but reading a lot. Fuk is a totally unique place and I love it.

I've been talking to Brad about running things here for a few years and things fell into place right now to do it. Now I'm in charge, there's no plans to change anything major, or really to change anything much at all. I'd like to increase traffic to the site and one way I'd like to do that is to improve SEO. Another way is to potentially look at posting articles again (there was a blog here a long time ago).

I won't mess with the forums, unless you want improvements. If you do please post up suggestions here or send me a message. I appreciate swear filters, or adverts amongst the forum posts are not popular!

We had a few technical problems over New Year that were a bit tricky to fix (bad timing, new developer and new tools) - apologies for that. Everything should now be ship shape and running as before. And long may that continue.

Looking forward to the banter.

Cheers.

I think adding photos from your phone is one of the main things people want to be able to do rather than having to host them and add them all manually.

On another note, if i can ask, what are the other forums you've worked on\built?

Just to get a glimpse of your style

Yep not having to use a image hosting site would be a massive plus. Hopefully would encourage more people to post fits

Nothing against ads as I work in the industry myself and previously for a publisher. You just need to make sure it’s done right and non intrusive to the user, make it a place that advertisers love and users accept.

I understand the need for monetising a website. At the end of the day hosting (including images) etc. doesn’t come for free, and if you do end up doing content then that doesn’t either, as it’s yours or another person’s time. If people want the forum to keep running, without wanting to pay the £10 subscription a year, then the site needs to make money somehow.

Running an ad blocker isn’t going to help things and right now I doubt the new owner is making bucket loads, especially if he’s using AdSense, which would only bring in around 0.10p or less CPM, which is nothing when the traffic to the site is pretty much dead, let’s face it is (hence the need to improve the site’s SEO).

I see you’re trialing Ezoic. If you’re looking for other ad networks, you can also try Sortable, The Publisher Desk or Freestar.

Very accurate assessment. AdSense revenue is less than £2 a day on Fuk.

As others have said image hosting would be great, not sure whether that would be financially feasible though? I always liked the idea of social media style like button's on posts especially in threads like waywt last purchase etc, would cut down on image quoting and bring it upto date a little.

As I’m typing this there are currently 32 online members. Surely you’ve not bought this site to make money?

But saying that you are toying with the idea of annoying and alienating those 32 or so members by introducing ads and swear filters, so I don’t really see this ending well.
