also anyone who's been in end of December before what sort of weather should I expect realistically? Don't want to be under/overpacked. Cheers?

like Nigel posted you can follow that guide. Snowing or not, it's going to be fucking cold. Like bone chilling, you got to remember that the New York New York is off the Atlantic Ocean, so even if it's not snowing it's going to get on chillingly cold in the night.

If your my age, 35+ (I wish I was 35), check out Clandestino. This is my favorite spot in NYC. Amazing Vibes, simple bar set up, so don't go off on the fancy cocktails shit unless you see and know the recipes. Amazing music is the main point, as well as the vibe, very mature knowing that you're cool without having to say s*** in the dim light with dope music, think obscure 70s r&b, rock, etc. A lot of the bartenders are DJs themselves so the playlist will be amazing.

I mean, New York has everything you could want, but I usually close my nights out and usually fly out in the morning after clandestino closes.

Also New York is very niche when it comes to our kind who knows what we like. I don't visit many of the stores because many of the stores don't have what I want. There's about to be a new Arc'teryx store, that's some s*** that I'm into. I always hit up Dover Street market. Of course you got nepenthes. Just search for brands you like and New York City..

Flower shop is cool
Most of the spots are young, but Les or Lower east side has most of the dope bars you actually enjoy and get a vibe without having to suffer around motherfuckers doing to much, and you can visit them in a radius. @nolitadirtbag on Instagram be listing a lot of the cool spots, especially his earlier post. But my ultimate favorite shit is keeping it cheap with the cheap eats from a couple slices, Chinese food, halal spots and carts(blessed by God) to deli's,and just vibing out, if your vibe is Right Niggas will fuck with you no matter who or where you're from or they are from. Hit up empire cannabis club for the good smokes, I recommend the grapefruit Durban.

Again I recommend clandestino for the ultimate finisher of the night, after all of the seeing what's happening spots you hit up. Surprisingly a lot of English expats or citizens hit this bar up often. I think I've even met a fuker there (a non-contributing one obviously)

Hoity toity shit isn't New York, from fine dining to all the other stupid shit that people who aint from New York do (of course New Yorkers are doing some upscale shit and doing all of the stupid corny expensive shit), or people who think they're doing something (money waisters) do. The grime is the best part of New York city, from a harlem-born kid.

If you're not exhausted from a day of vibes and walking, you didn't really enjoy New York City.

Also as a Harlem kid, I don't really fuck with any of the other boroughs like that, so I can't tell you how gentrified Brooklyn or the rest of them garbage ass boroughs are. Money making Manhattan where you can just walk to the next spot and turn up, unlike the rest of the boroughs.

The model who used to be the main dude for Bedwin and the Heartbreakers has a bar named la Noxè where I took a fit pit there. It's in a Subway. He used to own kinfolk. Jey Pierre. Excellent cocktails, crazy vibes, great music, extremely super small spot.

NYC is an outside city. It's not about spending money as much as it's about being everywhere, from high(expensive) or low. Most people just hang out on their block or in their neighborhoods rich or poor. So only money waisters and non-new yorkers be doing the Michelin star shit, hell Michelin is a fucking rubber producer. Get in the streets.

Leroy and Lewis.

Best bbq I had on my 2 trips there trying just about everywhere, and set up in the garden area of a great coffee/beer bar.

Thinking of a family trip to Italy in the summer and travelling around a bit. Rome for a few days then travel up the country stopping off at places for a couple days and maybe ending in Milan. Is that something that can be done easily/not cost a fortune? Or should I just book an all inclusive in Tenerife and remove the stress? Kids are 9 and 10.

Went pre-Covid and it's great City.

My memory's a little hazy but there's a fantastic walk over to the harbour through a cemetery (sounds a bit weird but it's worth it for the views alone) on the hill. Fantastic market at the base of the hill (the City side) selling art and all sorts of foodstuff.

A jazz (no John Thompson) bar in the City called Le Shapko was great for late night drinks and live music.

Train to Monaco is just about worth it if only to get off at Villefranche and walk up the alleys to the top of the village. The scenery is incredible and there's a small 'local' tabac/bar near the top which serves wine on the street; order a bottle and watch the world go by.

Depends how far you want to go, the trains and buses are decent and well priced as well if you don't fancy the drive.

Saint Paul de Vence, Antibes, Beaulieu sur mer, Villefranche sur mer, cagnes Sur mer old town, Grasse all lovely for a visit but probably wouldn't put a full day in. Monaco worth a look too if you've never been.

If you're happy to drive an hour odd from the city you could do Saint Raphael, Port Grimaud and Grimaud old town and St Tropez etc. Few nice restaurants in grimaud old town we went to last summer. Le cafe de France was one of them.

To be honest anywhere around there you can't really go wrong!
