if you're confident cycling in a city, last time I was there i rented a mini-velo (basicly a full sized bike frame with brompton sized wheels) from these guys:

fantastic way to get around the city and explore. I ended up renting the bike every day of my stay there

Dad alert…

Anyone recommend a resort where kids can explore safely during day (ideally beach side with lots for them to do) with a buzzy town for dinner and drinks at night. Europe only please… no Tenerife etc

What about euro camp? Did it for the first time since the 80s last year and booked it again for this summer. Kids loved it and they are usually situated not far from towns etc. We did one in the south of France last year and going near Bordeaux this year. Was great.

Alvor in portugal maybe worth a look? Beach, town with loads of restaurants. Was all families and couples when we went a few years ago. Water park nearby, not sure how much to do on the beaches but we thought it looked great for families.

The one we went last year was a smaller one that had a few things on site but we've opted for a larger one this summer which has a lot of activities for the kids. Large pool area with slides and kids club etc

It's no longer really tents anymore it's like glamping in mobile homes now. I was nervous last year but genuinely had a great time. Was good to experience as an adult and also see the kids enjoying themselves. We liked the option of self catering as the kids are so fussy that when it comes to restaurants they will eat in it can become a real hassle. My kids are younger will be 3/6 by our next eurocamp trip.

Ouch, I’ve only paid a fraction of that, granted it was May & September. There a usually loads of deals around, BA sale always has Ikos resorts.

On Paris - it’s these fukers at every landmark, train and metro station with their clipboards and con charity surveys that drain the will to live
